Lists. Lists. Lists. Everyone just loves lists, don’t they? Well, no, not everyone. Even I, along with some of our more outspoken readers, recognize that lists are, for the most part, arbitrary, subjective and far too rampant nowadays, rendering them somewhat superfluous in the grand scheme of things. Neko Case, for one, sums it up pretty well.
Nevertheless, despite their ubiquity and general uselessness, these lists can be damn fun to compile and, let’s be honest, they can be pretty entertaining to sift through as a catalyst for healthy debate and the inevitable fair share of irrational discord.
Mind you, the Albumism team’s approach to devising lists is a bit different than other music sites’ methodologies, many of which seem to implicitly claim that their expert, “we know more than you” perspective ensures the legitimacy of what they deem worthy of inclusion. We, on the other hand, make no false pretensions of critical superiority like this.
Instead, our lists that comprise “the best” and “the greatest” are governed, rather simply, by our staff’s shared passion for celebrating the music that we love. And we hope that by shining a bright light on the artists and albums in question, we’ll help to reconnect our readers with the music they love as well or encourage them to discover something new.
So without further ado and in unranked, alphabetical order by artist, we’re thrilled to share our selections for our favorite albums of the past decade (2010-2019). Click “Explore List” below to read our team's perspectives on each of the 110 selections, listen to each album and revisit the official music videos where available.
