Stay Lucky is a record possessed of unpretentious sonic soulfulness and masterful sequencing that it felt out of place immediately upon its release in the noisy musical climate of 2017. It was that year’s best kept secret to be sure. But, for the British singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Nerina Pallot, her sixth studio effort—and her third straight knockout after the equally powerful entries of Year of the Wolf (2011) and The Sound and the Fury (2015)—was just artistic business as usual.
