There’s not a lot of artists in the current decade that can boast of creating a breakout album for an entire genre, but that’s exactly what Lecrae did for Christian rap with his sixth LP Gravity. His undeniable skill earned the respect of his secular counterparts like Big K.R.I.T. and DJ Khalil who both collaborated on the song “Mayday,” while he showcased some of the brightest talents of the Christian music world like singer-songwriter Mali Music and Andy Mineo. Pairing traditional Christian values with modern consciousness over blue-chip production made Gravity one of the most innovative projects, and successfully crossed over a well-deserved artist with plenty of staying power.
