I would never have guessed that a partnership between Wu-Tang Clan’s Inspektah Deck and Boston hip-hop pioneer MC Esoteric would produce some of most enjoyable albums of the ’10s. But here we sit, with a bunch of great albums by the pair to boot. Every Hero Needs A Villain is the second entry is the group’s discography, embracing the late ’80s/early ’90s aesthetic and blending it with Jack Kirby-era comic book imagery and pro-wrestling references. Both emcees deliver some of their best performances over rugged, straight-up boom bap tracks.
