Relationships can be a rocky road to traverse in your late teens and early twenties.  Fortunately for me, I’m an ‘80s baby that navigated my way through this rugged terrain in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s with a great soundtrack of soul and R&B music to celebrate the smooth moments and ease the sting of the coarse break-ups. Break-up albums particularly endure to define the character of their respective generation. A decade or so later, I notice the torch has been passed to the sultry vocals of Gabriella Wilson aka H.E.R. Her self-titled debut, which was a compilation of previously released EPs along with six new songs, earned her the Best R&B Album at the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards and her place in the soul-pantheon for being the melodic mouthpiece for today’s generation.
