I really can’t say how Tame Impala’s third album came to me, for I’d never known the genius of Kevin Parker before then. But I’m so grateful it entered my life precisely when it did. With lyrics like “Wish I could turn you back into a stranger / ‘Cause if I was never in your life / You wouldn’t have to change it,” Currents is a quintessential breakup record, rending deeply into all the common weeping wounds. However, it also served well on my journey of recovery, opening my mind to a new universe of experiences and connections. If you’re ever feeling stuck and want to usher in healing energies, let Currents run through you.
