This album is one of the best examples of a rapper mastering his style. Dom Kennedy won't come up in conversations about who has the best bars or the deepest messages. But on his debut studio LP, Dom proved that he's a singular artist. His delivery is charismatic, embodying the slick talk heard in his verses. And he has a voice that makes it clear he's from L.A., but can't be mistaken for any other L.A. rapper. Dom pairs these strengths with great production, and the result is a true evolution of west coast hip-hop.
