Surging with romantic brilliance and emotive energy, Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants to Leave is devastatingly gorgeous in every way. But, it took me awhile to latch onto their otherworldly magic. It wasn’t until I saw The Twilight Sad open for The Cure in 2016 that I really started to pay the Scottish indie rockers the attention they so clearly deserve. Singer James Graham is absolutely riveting to behold, howling into the heavens as if channeling the late Ian Curtis. Once I succumbed to their soul-shattering sensibilities, I knew I shouldn’t—and couldn’t ever—look back.
