PAUL SIMON | In the Blue Light
Legacy (2018)

In the Blue Light reimagines ten tracks from Simon's diverse solo catalog and is also notable for the return of veteran Roy Halee, who helmed Simon & Garfunkel landmarks Bookends and Bridge Over Troubled Water, to the production booth. The result is a beautiful soundscape across which the pair confidently play with different textures and tempos while allowing the poetry of Simon's compositions to remain the focus. "Rene and Georgette Margritte with Their Dog After The War," a ballad that first appeared on 1983's Hearts and Bones, is a masterclass in evoking emotion and imagery—the hallmarks of Simon's songwriting across his long and deservedly storied career.
