I love discovering new music in unexpected places. While attending a work function, I heard the pounding hunter-like rhythms of “Get Some” and I just had to hear more. From opener “Youth Knows No Pain” with its ‘60s girl group vibe dipped in gloomy beats and fuzztones, to the sparse and looming “Silent My Song,” Wounded Rhymes is a beautiful portrait of lost innocence, lost youth and lost love. Clashing wall of sound production with her haunting vocals, Lykke Li made the album of the year for me in 2011.
