NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Joan Armatrading’s “Already There”

At the conclusion of his retrospective tribute to Joan Armatrading’s 1983 album The Key, Albumism’s Quentin Harrison astutely proclaims that her recorded repertoire—although critically acclaimed in most circles—is “definitely in need of wider dissemination and discussion,” nevertheless.

We wholeheartedly agree, and we’re hoping that her new single “Already There” and forthcoming twentieth studio LP Consequences spark renewed interest in her sterling songcraft, which has lost precisely none of its power in the nearly five decades that have passed since she first emerged with her 1972 debut album Whatever’s for Us.

Watch the official video for “Already There” below and mark your calendars for Consequences’ scheduled arrival on June 18th.
