Fresh on the heels of her critically acclaimed, box office record-breaking concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, Taylor Swift has unveiled 1989 (Taylor's Version), the highly anticipated fourth installment in her ongoing series of re-recorded albums following Fearless (Taylor's Version) (2021), Red (Taylor's Version) (2021) and Speak Now (Taylor's Version) (2023).
Originally released nine years ago on October 27, 2014, 1989 features three singles that topped the Billboard 100 (“Shake It Off,” “Blank Space’ and “Bad Blood”) and garnered multiple accolades including snagging the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album trophies at the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony.
The standard, 21-track configuration of the re-recorded edition features refreshed versions of the album’s original thirteen tracks alongside eight additional songs, five of which are designated as “From the Vault” compositions that were written around the time of the album’s genesis in 2014. 1989 (Taylor's Version) arrives in multiple physical format iterations spanning four CD versions and five vinyl variations including the Target exclusive Tangerine Edition that includes the re-recorded version of “Sweeter Than Fiction,” which was originally recorded for the soundtrack of the 2013 film One Chance.
“The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th,” Swift explains via X. “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind.”
