Jane Weaver
Love In Constant Spectacle
Fire Records
Released 04/05/24
Three years on from the release of her critically acclaimed 2021 album Flock, Jane Weaver has released her twelfth studio LP Love In Constant Spectacle. Recorded with producer John Parish (PJ Harvey, Jenny Hval) at Rockfield Studios in Wales and Portishead co-founder Geoff Barrow’s Bristol-based Invada Studios, the album is "a voyage into undisclosed pastures” and “a heartfelt manifesto from an artist that continues to boundlessly evolve with each chapter in her career” according to an official press release.
Written and recorded during her father’s extended illness and his passing this past August, Weaver made the album while “walking with that anticipatory grief,” as she confides to The Guardian. “When I got in touch with John, maybe it was a cry for help, but I thought, I just want to work outside Manchester, go somewhere completely different, escape for a while and see what comes out. My way of doing production, I live and breathe an album for three years—the studio’s just around the corner from where I live. Maybe subconsciously I needed help this time.”
Love In Constant Spectacle’s arrival is preceded by three official singles in the form of the title track, “Perfect Storm,” and “Romantic Worlds.”
