Rod Thomas—a.k.a. Bright Light Bright Light—has unveiled his fifth studio album Enjoy Youth, which follows his acclaimed 2020 album Fun City. Preceded by a handful of singles dating back to late 2022, the album reaffirms his proven penchant for combining euphoric, dancefloor-designed arrangements with introspective lyricism to glorious effect.

“I had to make a real active effort to reclaim a bit of my identity and remember that life can actually be really fun and really special and really full of opportunity and joy and laughter,” Thomas tells The Advocate, in reflecting upon writing and recording the album in the wake of the pandemic. “So for me, really this album was a way of reminding myself that, yeah, we all went through a lot and yes, it was really bleak at times, but there’s still a lot in the world to be hopeful and thankful for.”

Enjoy Youth is available in various formats here and be sure to catch its creator performing live in select cities throughout the summer.
