Brought to you by the ever reliable and sanctified souls of the Record Kicks label, Dutch soul band The Tibbs are back with a new single from their forthcoming sophomore album. The album, entitled Another Shot Fired, is slated for release on November 20th and lead single “Damaged Heart” is a great indication of what the group is all about. They possess a sharp funky soul edge with echoes of those awe-inspiring house bands of 1960s soul labels.

Added to the mix this time is talented singer and writer Roxanne Hartog, who wrote most of the lyrics for the album. “Damaged Heart” has an effortless groove with a backbeat to make you move and the swirling salvation of the organ to give that vintage soul feel. It is immediately a ray of sunshine on an autumnal day, albeit with an undercurrent of heartbreak.

The video, filmed in studios in Amsterdam, shows the band relaxed and in full flow, while Hartog delivers the tale of woe. Check out the official video for “Damaged Heart” below and indulge in this lip-smacking entrée to an album that is sure to soothe the soul.
