NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: The Ghost Twins’ “A Little Bit”

Cousins Samantha and Spencer Gibb have unveiled their first single as the alt-pop duo The Ghost Twins. “A Little Bit” continues in the Gibb family tradition of crafting irresistibly melodic tracks (Samantha and Spencer’s late fathers are the Bee Gees’ Maurice and Robin Gibb, respectively), although it’s important to note that their sound isn’t directly derivative.

Using the same orchestral players from Spencer’s most recent studio album Let’s Start Over, the single has an effervescence thanks to sweeping strings and horns. Samantha and Spencer’s voices, both markedly disparate in tone, blend effortlessly.

After partnering on the recent Bee Gees tribute album Please Don’t Turn Out The Lights, sitting down to write new material together was a heartening experience. “There was something unique about how easy and well we collaborated,” Samantha explains in a recent press release. “It was like we were finishing each other’s sentences. We had a twin-like energy, and being that our fathers were twins, it just made it even cooler.”

“So many songs were recorded in one or two takes with us sharing a single microphone,” Spencer adds. “We sounded like one voice.”

“A Little Bit” is the first song to be released from the Ghost Twins’ forthcoming EP Silver Linings, which is set to arrive later this fall.
