Only a year and a few weeks have passed since Sharon Van Etten blessed our ears with her dynamic and widely acclaimed fifth album Remind Me Tomorrow (2019), but the recent New York City to Los Angeles transplant has already returned with new music today. Accompanied by a beautifully shot video directed by Nicky and Juliana Giraffe, the austere yet arresting “Beaten Down” examines “love, patience and empathy,” according to Van Etten in an official statement. “It’s about making life-changing choices and remaining strong enough to see them through.”

Watch the video below and be sure to catch Van Etten live when her forthcoming tour rolls through your town this spring and concludes at Central Park’s SummerStage on July 29th.
