NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Omar’s “Pass It On” Featuring Terri Walker

February 5, 2020 Albumism Staff

With all of the disenchanting political noise infiltrating and taxing our weary minds these days, it’s reassuring to know that we can still indulge in a few minutes of escapism whenever we wish, by simply pressing play on a solid tune. The latest case in point is UK soul pioneer Omar’s “Pass It On” featuring Terri Walker, a lovely mid-tempo track that instantly sets us adrift on melodic, brass-infused bliss. The song features as the opening track on Omar’s expansive, 33-track retrospective The Anthology, his first formal release since 2017’s Love In Beats and a thrilling primer for his prolific recording career to date.

"I feel blessed,” Omar confides in an official statement for the collection. “I try to keep things moving and evolving, and when I finish an album, I always put my heart and soul into it. I'm looking at it from an outsider's point of view, because I never really see myself making the music. It's like I'm the vessel and somebody's controlling what I do, I just happen to be the one that gets the praise for it.”
