NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Leona Naess’ “Call You By Your Name”

April 21, 2022 Albumism Staff

Testament to the validity of the old adage that good things come to those who wait, Leona Naess has announced that the arrival of her fifth studio album—entitled Brood X—is on the near horizon, nearly fourteen years after her most recent LP, 2008’s Thirteens.

Due in stores June 3rd, the new album is preceded by the just-unveiled single “Call You By Your Name,” a propulsive, emotionally stirring composition that finds the acclaimed singer-songwriter reflecting upon the realities of relinquishing control. “It's about losing your power or influence over someone you love,” Naess says of the single in an official statement. “As hard as we try, we can’t control anyone's choices. True love means letting go. Anyone with kids can relate to this or anyone really that loves any human."

Watch the Laura Bailey-directed, Francesca Hayward-starring video for “Call You By Your Name” and revisit the Jakub Blank directed video for the preceding lead single “Name Across The Sky” below.
