NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Jessie Ware’s “Free Yourself”

July 19, 2022 Albumism Staff

Two years on from the arrival of her acclaimed fourth studio album What’s Your Pleasure? (2020), Jessie Ware has vowed to unveil “a whole load of new music” soon. And this pronouncement is, well, music to our ears, as few artists have produced such consistently captivating fare as the UK songstress has over the past ten years since her debut LP Devotion (2012) dropped.

First up in this next chapter of Ware’s ever-blossoming oeuvre is the Stuart Price produced “Free Yourself,” a buoyant dancefloor stormer tailor-made for lifting spirits throughout the summer. And while no concrete details about her forthcoming fifth studio album have emerged yet, we’ll take this dazzling single as a positive sign that her next full-length affair is indeed set to materialize soon.

“’Free Yourself’ is the beginning of a new era for me,” Ware confides in an official statement. “I’m so excited for people to have this song for the end of their summer; to dance, to feel no inhibitions & to feel joyful because that’s how I’ve been feeling recently being able to tour again and being able to sing again. Enjoy yourself, Free Yourself!”
