Gemma Hayes has announced that her sixth studio album Blind Faith will surface in September and she has unveiled the project’s thought-provoking third single “Hardwired,” which examines the reality and consequences of our hyper-connected age. The track follows the previous releases of “High & Low” and “Feed The Flames,” further fueling her loyal fans’ excitement for the arrival of her first LP since 2014’s Bones + Longing.

“I wanted to take a musical freeze frame of the world post-Covid,” Hayes explains in an official statement. “A place where, according to statistics, we were more captured by our devices and social media content than ever before. We were sitting ducks for bad actors to misinform us in a way that felt like real information. A place where people became more polarised by whether they identified with left or right, pro or anti etc. The lack of nuance in these areas seemed dangerous. I felt like unplugging the world, waiting ten seconds, and plugging it back in again. And thus was born ‘Hardwired.’”

Hayes is set to perform two shows in her native Ireland this weekend, at the Night and Day Festival at Lough Key Forest Park on June 29th, and a handful of dates in Ireland and England later this summer and fall.
