NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Emily Weisband’s 'Not Afraid to Say Goodbye' (Stripped) EP

Released this past November as the follow-up to her 2019 debut EP Identity Crisis, Emily Weisband’s stirring Not Afraid to Say Goodbye EP showcases a distinctive voice whose star sits firmly in the ascendant, with her proper breakthrough to mainstream acclaim all but an inevitability.

Two months following its arrival, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter has delivered a nuanced reading of the EP’s four compositions in the form of its “Stripped” companion piece. With the denser percussion of its precursor replaced by piano and acoustic guitar driven arrangements, this new variant of the EP serves to further accentuate Weisband’s alluring vocals coupled with a lyrical introspection that juxtaposes an air of confidence alongside her refreshing emotional vulnerability.

“I really dug deeper into my own artistry on this EP, and the response to it—especially in a year like 2020 and for an artist new to the game—blew me away!” Weisband confides in an official statement. “I’ve been in the studio working on my next project coming this spring, but I wanted to close the Not Afraid to Say Goodbye chapter with one last little intimate moment. It’s kind of a thank you to everyone who connected with it, and these stripped versions felt like the perfect way to do that!”

Perfect, indeed. Listen to both versions of the EP and watch the accompanying official music videos below.
