NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Amanda Shires’ “Hawk For The Dove”

May 25, 2022 Albumism Staff

Amanda Shires has announced that her new album Take It Like A Man will make landfall on July 29th courtesy of ATO Records and she has unveiled the long player’s stunner of a lead single “Hawk For The Dove.” Produced by Lawrence Rothman (Angel Olsen, Marissa Nadler, Kim Gordon), Take It Like A Man marks the singer-songwriter-instrumentalist’s first non-holiday solo album since 2018’s To The Sunset and features an impressive crew of collaborators including her husband Jason Isbell, her fellow Highwomen co-founders Natalie Hemby and Maren Morris, and Brittany Spencer.

“I want people to know that it’s okay to be a 40-year-old woman and be more than just a character in somebody else’s life,” Shires explains in an official statement. “The song and the visual representation of the song deal with the emotions that turn prey into predator.”
