In partnership with Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Records, Prince’s estate—Paisley Park Enterprises—has unveiled the expanded, multi-format reissue of his 1991 album Diamonds And Pearls. Prince’s thirteenth studio album overall and his first with The New Power Generation, Diamonds And Pearls yielded multiple memorable hit singles including “Gett Off,” “Cream,” “Insatiable,” “Money Don’t Matter 2 Night” and the title track.
The highly anticipated (and impressive) reissue campaign comprises multiple expanded configurations. The Super Deluxe Edition features a total of 75 tracks across 7xCD and 12xLP versions, including the remastered original album, 15 remixes, edits and B-sides, 33 never-heard studio rarities and the band’s 14-song January 1992 performance at Minneapolis’ Glam Slam club. An accompanying Blu-ray disc includes the Glam Slam show, the band’s Special Olympics performance at Minneapolis’ Metrodome in July 1991, a previously unseen soundcheck, and the long out-of-print Diamonds And Pearls Video Collection.
Deluxe 2xCD and 4xLP editions present the remastered album coupled with the 15 remixes, edits and B-sides, complemented by a standalone CD and 2xLP edition that features the remastered album only. The 180-gram vinyl edition of the latter is available in clear (“Diamond”) and off-white (“Pearl”) pressings.
