Madi Diaz has unveiled her sixth studio album Weird Faith as the follow-up to her 2021 LP History of a Feeling. Preceded by lead singles “Same Risk” and “Don’t Do Me Good” featuring her fellow Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves, the album was recorded in upstate New York following Diaz’s tour jaunts with Angel Olsen, Waxahatchee, and Harry Styles.

“After being really burned by love—maybe relentlessly burned by it—the album is about being brave and trying again. Doing it differently,” Diax explains in an official statement. “It’s in our nature to try to be brave like that. You see the car crash coming. Maybe it won’t happen, but you're bracing for it anyway.”

After early career success like Peniston’s, many artists would rather sell their souls than chance to change the formula, even if they have to create work they don’t love. Peniston refused.
