James Yorkston has released his new album Songs for Nina and Johanna, a collaborative project with the accomplished Swedish singer-songwriters Nina Persson of The Cardigans and Johanna Söderberg of First Aid Kit, alongside members of The Second Hand Orchestra. Preceded by the official singles “Oh Light, Oh Light,” “A Moment Longer,” “Love/Luck” and “Love That Tree,” the album is the follow-up to the Scotsman’s 2023 LP The Great White Sea Eagle, which also featured Persson and The Second Hand Orchestra.

“Who wouldn’t embrace the chance to sing with two great Swedish voices?”, Yorkston contemplates in an official statement. “When the idea for Johanna to join the fold was suggested, I leapt at the chance. Nina and Johanna, they complement, yet never compete. And me? I tried not to get in their way, tried to give them space to interpret the songs as they felt.”

To support the album’s arrival, Yorkston and Persson will play a handful of UK shows next month, capped off by a September 23rd performance in Stockholm.
