Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist Isaiah Collier has unveiled his immersive and inspired new album Parallel Universe, just in time to deservedly make its way onto the imminent year-end best-of lists. The latest installment in the Night Dreamer label’s Direct-to-Disc series which captures the musical magic and purity of live session recordings committed to wax, Parallel Universe finds Collier joined by a gifted ensemble of musicians including vocalist Jimetta Rose, Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) and former Art Ensemble of Chicago trumpet player Corey Wilkes, blues-rooted guitarist Michael Damani, alongside his trusted collaborators Julian Davis Reid, James Russell Sims and Micah Collier.

“Recording direct-to-disc gave me a really fortunate opportunity to experience what our musical predecessors almost a hundred years ago were dealing with,” Collier explains in an official statement.

“Give me that feeling that makes me feel like I’m alive,” he continues. “People can tell when you’re taking chances. I know that’s what everybody is looking for.”
