WELCOME BACK WAX: Madonna’s Early ‘90s Gems ‘Erotica’ & ‘Bedtime Stories’ Return on Vinyl This Week

August 9, 2016 Albumism Staff

Earlier this summer, Rhino/Warner Bros. reissued Madonna’s first four studio albums—Madonna (1983), Like a Virgin (1984), True Blue (1986), and Like a Prayer (1989)—on vinyl. Thankfully, the rollout continues this week with the 180-gram vinyl re-release of Erotica (1992) and Bedtime Stories (1994) on Friday, August 12th.

While not as critically acclaimed as her ‘80s output and subsequent LPs Ray of Light (1998) and Music (2000), Erotica and Bedtime Stories remain vital recordings within her prolific discography. Each album features noticeably more refined and imaginative dancefloor stompers (“Deeper and Deeper,” “Fever,” “Bedtime Story”) coupled with polished, exquisitely produced ballads (“Bad Girl,” “Rain,” “Take a Bow”), the combination of which showcased Madonna’s musical maturation at the time, both sonically and vocally.

And who can forget the visually, er, titillating coffee table book Sex, which Madonna released in conjunction with Erotica?

If you’re a lifelong Madonna fan, you likely already own both albums on CD or digital formats or both. Why not complete the trifecta and add the vinyl versions to your collection now?
