Earlier this year, we stole a moment to celebrate Tori Amos’ prolific, thirty-year and fifteen-album deep discography in its glorious entirety. And this past week, we received the very welcome news that her recorded repertoire will soon expand once again with the October 29th arrival of her sixteenth studio affair Ocean To Ocean, with the vinyl release slated to surface a few months later on January 28th.
“This is a record about your losses and how you cope with them,” Amos says of the follow-up to 2017’s Native Invader in an official statement. “Thankfully when you’ve lived long enough, you can recognize you’re not feeling like the mom you want to be, the wife you want to be, the artist you want to be. I realized that to shift this, you have to write from the place where you are. I was in my own private hell, so I told myself, then that’s where you write from—you’ve done it before.”
The piano and electric guitar propelled “Speaking With Trees” is the album’s lead offering and can be heard below.
