Artist: The National
Song: “You Had Your Soul With You”
Album:I Am Easy To Find (Due in stores May 17th)
Aging gracefully can be a challenging proposition for most rock bands, but if there’s any ensemble that has nailed the act across the past two decades, it’s unquestionably The National. Considering that more than four years separated the release of their 2013 album Trouble Will Find Me and 2017’s GRAMMY-winning Sleep Well Beast, today’s announcement that the band’s eighth studio album, the 16-track I Am Easy To Find, is set for arrival May 17th suggests a newfound hyper-productivity. And if the shimmering, shapeshifting lead single “You Had Your Soul With You” featuring Gail Ann Dorsey is any indication of the additional 15 compositions to come, the band’s accelerated quantity of output does not come at the expense of the signature quality of their songwriting.
Not content to simply announce their new album and single, The National have also revealed plans for an accompanying short film directed by Mike Mills and an expansive world tour that kicks off April 16th in Paris. Listen to “You Had Your Soul With You” and watch the trailer for the I Am Easy To Find film below.
