NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: The Lonely Island’s “Oakland Nights” (Featuring Sia) & “Uniform On”

In conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Oakland Athletics’ triumph in the earthquake-interrupted 1989 World Series over the crosstown San Francisco Giants, my fellow East Bay natives The Lonely Island have unveiled a Netflix tribute special and accompanying 11-track album entitled The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience. The 30-minute “visual poem” features a bevy of guest stars including Maya Rudolph, Sterling K. Brown (incredulously but hilariously cast as the singer-songwriter Sia), Jenny Slate, and the Haim sisters.

A cleverly conceived tongue-in-cheek homage to the dynamic, drug-enhanced duo of Jose Canseco (played by Andy Samberg) and Mark McGwire (Akiva Schaffer), the project’s initial two music videos unveiled for mass consumption include “Oakland Nights” (featuring Sia) and “Uniform On.”

Enjoy the videos and listen to the full album below.
