NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Sleater-Kinney’s “Hurry On Home”

May 29, 2019 Albumism Staff

More than four years have elapsed since Sleater-Kinney released their most recent album, 2015’s No Cities To Love, but today’s unleashing of their propulsive new single “Hurry On Home” signals that its successor is now officially on the horizon. Produced by St. Vincent, the band’s forthcoming ninth studio album—rumored to be titled The Center Won’t Hold—will make landfall later this year. The trio comprised of Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss have also revealed plans for a North American tour that kicks off October 9th in Spokane, Washington.

In an official statement, Brownstein explains, “We're always mixing the personal and the political, but on this record, despite obviously thinking so much about politics, we were really thinking about the person — ourselves or versions of ourselves or iterations of depression or loneliness — in the middle of the chaos."

Watch the Miranda July directed lyric video for “Hurry On Home” below.
