NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Taylor Swift’s “The Man”

In describing the impetus behind Lover’s recently released fourth single “The Man” during a Vogue interview last year, Taylor Swift explained, “It’s a thought experiment of sorts: ‘If I had made all the same choices, all the same mistakes, all the same accomplishments, how would it read?’” Indeed, the track finds Swift ruminating hypothetically about what others’ perception of her would be if she were a man, not a woman, serving as a cleverly conceived commentary about the rampant sexism that reigns throughout the music industry.

Swift recently shared a lyric video and live performance of the single, but today she unveils the official music video, which she directed. Enjoy all three clips below and if you haven’t already, be sure to also check out the Miss Americana documentary, which traces the ups, downs and everything in between of Swift’s career to date.
