NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Swindle’s “LOST” Featuring Loyle Carner, Kojey Radical & JNR Williams

Swindle’s third album No More Normal (2019) was a bubbling beauty shot through with a panoply of influences—funk, hip hop, soul and UK iterations of those genres blended together to create a lasting impression. Now the South Londoner returns with “LOST,” a track that once again showcases his ability to forge something inventive and exciting from the strands of the music he loves.

Alongside him are two of the UK’s leading rappers and a singer of impeccable quality. Loyle Carner lends his emotive, laconic style to proceedings while Kojey Radical gives his sonorous tones to the cause. Holding the track together with his delightful vocals is JNR Williams. Funk bass, snatches of horns and an understated beat finds the pair of lyricists tossing verses to and fro about loss and success.

Orchestrating it though is Swindle, who prepares and cooks the ingredients to a tee with the help of Femi and TJ Koleoso from the Ezra collective. The way in which the disparate parts of the UK musical scene come together to create something greater than the sum of its impressive parts is emblematic of the incredible London music scene.

Take a listen below and join us in hoping this is a sign of even more new music to come from Swindle.
