UPDATE (October 29th): Watch the just-released video for “Crying At The Discotheque” below.
Thank goodness for the musical gifts that Sophie Ellis-Bextor has bestowed upon our weary souls during the past six months of pandemic-induced lockdown. Her recurring series of endearingly ebullient ‘Kitchen Disco’ live performances broadcast from her home and via her Instagram feed have provided much-needed inspiration, escapism and joy for her loyal legion of fans, and for this, we are grateful.
We’re also thankful that Ms. Ellis-Bextor has revealed plans to bless us with her first-ever hits collection in the form of the 20-track Songs From The Kitchen Disco, which features her most beloved singles including “Murder On The Dance Floor,” “Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me),” “Catch You,” and “Mixed Up World,” among many other memorable moments from her sterling discography to date.
Due to arrive in stores November 13th on multiple formats and a preview of her spring 2021 Kitchen Disco UK tour, the compilation also features a refreshed 20th anniversary version of her 2000 Spiller collaboration “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)” and the dazzling new single “Crying At The Discotheque,” a cover of Alcazar’s 2001 international hit song.
“I always loved the song and since I sang it during the kitchen discos, it forever holds a special place in my heart,” Ellis-Bextor confides in an official statement.
