You know that revelatory feeling you get when you stumble upon a new voice or listen to a song for the first time, and you instantly want to hear as much as possible from this newfound source of inspiration? Well, this is precisely the way we felt upon discovering Sarah Murray earlier this year by way of her arresting single “Once Upon a Time,” which remains in regular rotation here at Albumism HQ months after its initial unveiling.

Hence why we’re thrilled to report that the Cork, Ireland based singer-songwriter has returned today with new music in the form of her latest single “If I Were You,” a refreshing blast of buoyant pop songcraft bolstered by the expert musicianship of her trusted collaborators John Burke and Pat Crowley.

While Murray seems to be doing just fine releasing her music independently, we suspect that it’s only a matter of time until her DIY spirit pays dividends and makes plenty of others across the industry take notice of her many musical gifts. In the meantime, we encourage you to press play on “If I Were You” below and stay tuned for more music to come from the mighty Ms. Murray.

After early career success like Peniston’s, many artists would rather sell their souls than chance to change the formula, even if they have to create work they don’t love. Peniston refused.
