NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Sam Smith’s “How Do You Sleep?”

It’s remarkable to think that only five short years have elapsed since Sam Smith blessed our ears with his debut solo album In The Lonely Hour (2014), considering how productive he has been since its release. And while we anxiously await the workhorse’s full-length follow-up to his 2017 sophomore effort The Thrill Of It All (not to mention any future collaborations with Disclosure on the horizon), Smith has dropped a sequence of stellar singles over the past year in the form of “Promises” with Calvin Harris, “Fire on Fire,” and “Dancing With A Stranger” with Normani.

His latest triumph—released earlier today—is the hypnotic, groove-laden “How Do You Sleep?” accompanied by the Grant Singer directed, Parris Goebel choreographed video that finds Smith flexing his dance skills amidst a qualified supporting cast.

“This year, both personally and musically, I feel so free,” Smith confides in an official statement. “More than ever I have had so much fun making this record and this video. Time to dance darlings.”
