NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: DJ Shadow’s “Rocket Fuel” Featuring De La Soul

July 25, 2019 Albumism Staff

The legendary DJ Shadow enlisting the lyrical magic of Long Island’s hip-hop heroes De La Soul? Um, yes please. Behold the supercharged single “Rocket Fuel,” the first teaser from Shadow’s forthcoming sixth studio album due later this year, as the follow-up to 2016’s acclaimed The Mountain Will Fall.

“I’ve been focused and working on a ton of music,” Shadow reveals in an official statement. “I usually try to avoid hyperbole, and I’m not super-comfortable hyping up my own stuff, but things are about to get pretty exciting. My heroes De La Soul were kind enough to join me on the debut single, ‘Rocket Fuel,’ and the collab encapsulates so much of what I love about hip-hop…energy, beats, and fun.”
