NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Sam Deezy’s “Shelter In Place” Featuring DJDave

With more than 90% of the U.S. population currently under strict orders to hunker down in their homes and maintain safe social distance from others, never has the notion of leading parallel lives resonated more profoundly than it does now. Yep, many of us find ourselves in a similar, albeit rocky boat these days, forced to reconcile the newfound demands of working, parenting, and teaching within the confines of our homes, all while trying to preserve whatever modicum of sanity we have left.

Sam Deezy, a.k.a. Sam Dorman, feels our pain firsthand, as evidenced by his latest single “Shelter In Place.” You’ll surely recognize Sam from his previous forays into documenting the hilarity of parenthood in the form of the viral smash “Daddy Skills” (2012) and the follow-up joint “This is My Crew” (2016). And now the perennial father-of-the-year candidate returns with some welcome entertainment for us in these challenging times, with his charismatic comrade DJDave (of “Whole Foods Parking Lot,” “Yoga Girl” and “Berkeley Enough” fame) close by his side once again.

Of course, Sam is wise enough to know that being stuck at home with his family is far less of a burden than what many others are experiencing right now. “HUGE gratitude and respect to all essential workers and everyone out there working so hard right now, including many who can’t be home with their children to make ridiculous videos,” he reflects in a statement that accompanies the video. “We all deeply appreciate you.”

Check out the video for “Shelter In Place” below and revisit some of his and DJDave’s classic moments as well.
