Teased across their social media feeds for a few weeks now, the beloved trio Saint Etienne have announced that their tenth studio album is slated to arrive September 10th. The follow-up to Home Counties (Albumism’s #1 Album of the Year in 2017), I’ve Been Trying To Tell You is preceded by the hypnotic, downtempo lead single “Pond House” and accompanied by an Alasdair McLellan directed film scheduled to premiere September 3rd at NFT1 on London’s Southbank.

“To me it’s about optimism, and the nineties, and how memory is an unreliable narrator,” Bob Stanley reflects via Instagram. “Pete (Wiggs) and Gus (Bousfield) have done a properly amazing production job. I think it sounds gorgeous.”

“It’s the first sample driven album we’ve made since So Tough and it’s been a really refreshing experience, such fun!” Sarah Cracknell confides. “It’s both dreamy and atmospheric, late summer sounds.”

“We’ve really pulled apart and dived deep into the samples,” Wiggs says. “The concept and each of our interpretations of it have made this a very special sounding album, we hope you think so too.”

Watch the official video for “Pond House” and the film trailer below, and be sure to mark September 10th in your calendars. And if you can, catch the group performing songs from I’ve Been Trying To Tell You during their eight-date UK tour this November.
