Just three weeks remain until Saint Etienne formally unveil their tenth studio album I’ve Been Trying To Tell You on September 10th, and the trio have now shared the second offering from the project. Following on from the recently released lead track “Pond House,” the atmospheric “Penlop” is a multi-textured beauty that augurs more subdued yet sublime sounds to come when the full long player arrives next month.

Further testament to Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs’ shared passion for multimedia experiences, the follow-up to Home Counties (Albumism’s #1 Album of the Year in 2017) is accompanied by the Alasdair McLellan directed film I’ve Been Trying To Tell You, scheduled to premiere September 3rd at NFT1 on London’s Southbank.

Saint Etienne’s new album ‘I’ve Been Trying To Tell You’ will be released September 10th

“It’s the first sample driven album we’ve made since So Tough and it’s been a really refreshing experience, such fun!” Sarah Cracknell confides. “It’s both dreamy and atmospheric, late summer sounds.”

“We’ve really pulled apart and dived deep into the samples,” Wiggs says. “The concept and each of our interpretations of it have made this a very special sounding album, we hope you think so too.”

Listen to “Penlop” and watch the film trailer below, and be sure to mark September 10th in your calendars. And if you can, catch the group performing songs from I’ve Been Trying To Tell You during their eight-date UK tour this November.
