NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Rosie Lowe’s “The Way” Featuring Jay Electronica

September 18, 2019 Albumism Staff

Though four months have elapsed since Rosie Lowe delivered her stunner of a second studio album YU, the record remains in the heaviest of rotations here at Albumism HQ. Hence why we’re thrilled about the recent unveiling of the official video for standout track “The Way,” which, in his ★★★★★ review of the album, Justin Chadwick calls “arguably YU’s zenith, a lush love song propelled by a multi-layered, shapeshifting arrangement, Lowe’s endearing hook and Jay Electronica’s evocative rhymes.”

Filmed by Lowe’s partner, the intimate, lo-fi video is the result of the couple “jumping on a plane to Mexico armed with a few film cameras” according to Lowe. Watch it below, read our interview with Ms. Lowe, and be sure to indulge in the brilliance of YU, if you haven’t already.
