NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Róisín Murphy’s “CooCool”

March 8, 2023 Albumism Staff
Róisín Murphy’s CooCool

Róisín Murphy has shared the first offering from her forthcoming sixth studio album in the form of “CooCool.” Produced by DJ Koze and her first recording for the famed Ninja Tune record label, the single augurs sublime sounds to come on her new album, which follows 2020’s Róisín Machine and 2021’s remix LP Crooked Machine. Both albums garnered five-star reviews by our reviewers and the former was Albumism’s #1 Album-of-the-Year back in 2020.

“There’s classic virtuosity and a lightness of touch, while DJ Koze’s hyper-modern production makes it bounce and glide,” Murphy says of the single in an official statement. “It’s a stupidly romantic little love poem. This thing is way beyond any kind of parody. Everything in this song is true and playful. Can we fall in love and retain our sense of humor? Embrace your inner child! Timeless, ageless, unavoidable love.”

Stay tuned for more details about Murphy’s new album and enjoy the lyric video for “CooCool” below.
