NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Neneh Cherry’s “Kong”

August 3, 2018 Albumism Staff

Artist: Neneh Cherry
Song: “Kong”
Album: TBD

Nearly 30 years since Neneh Cherry bolted into our ears and collective consciousness with her 1988 hit single “Buffalo Stance,” the versatile Swedish singer-songwriter continues to command our rapt attention. The latest case in point has emerged in the form of new single “Kong,” her first new solo music since 2014’s Blank Project LP. Produced by Blank Project orchestrator Four Tet and Massive Attack’s 3D, “Kong” finds Cherry reconciling feelings of disillusion and optimism atop a downtempo, dub-infused track.

Watch the Jenn Nkiru directed video below, and keep your fingers crossed that a formal announcement about a forthcoming album arrives soon.
