NEW ARRIVAL: Listen to Missy Elliott’s ‘Iconology’ EP

August 23, 2019 Albumism Staff

Artist: Missy Elliott
Album: Iconology
Label: Atlantic

Fourteen years have passed since Missy Elliott last blessed the world with a formal release (2005’s The Cookbook), but our long wait is thankfully, finally over as of midnight. Arriving just a few days before her scheduled appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards this Monday, the iconic, multi-dimensionally talented emcee-producer-mogul has delivered the surprise Iconology EP comprised of four new tracks and a bonus acapella version of “Why I Still Love You.”

Fingers crossed that this welcome, albeit brief new collection augurs a proper full-length project (i.e., the rumored ME7 album) to come in the not-too-distant future. Until that news arrives, however, let’s all indulge in Elliott’s return by listening to the EP and watching the accompanying video for “Throw It Back” below.
