Two years have passed in a flash since Mandy Moore released her latest album Silver Landings (2020), which found the singer-songwriter in peak creative form after an extended recording hiatus dating back to 2009’s Amanda Leigh LP. And we suspect that this reinvigorated artistic streak is destined to continue unabated on In Real Life, her just-announced new album due for arrival May 13th via Verve Forecast
Co-written by the This Is Us actress’ husband, Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith, and album producer Mike Viola, the uplifting title track “In Real Life” offers an early preview of the project and is described by Moore as “a representation of stepping into a new chapter, new identity & all of the wisdom, confusion & joy that comes along with it.”
One month after the album’s release, Moore will embark upon a North American summer tour that commences in Atlanta on June 10th and concludes July 24th at the famed Newport Folk Festival.
“So much of this record came from future-tripping on the next chapter of my life and what it might look like: what parenthood would feel like, how it would change everything, and all the excitement and trepidation that comes with that,” Moore continues in an official statement. “At the same time it was about celebrating and acknowledging where we were at the moment and really trying to be completely present in the everyday—which is maybe the hardest part of the human condition.”
