NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Madonna’s “I Rise”

May 3, 2019 Albumism Staff

Artist: Madonna
Song: “I Rise”
Album: Madame X (Due in stores June 14th)

With six weeks to go until the magnificent Ms. Ciccone unleashes her much-anticipated fourteenth studio album Madame X on June 14th, the music icon has shared the project’s inspiring second single “I Rise,” the follow-up to the recently unveiled “Medellín” and the latest in a methodical series of five planned singles due to arrive before the album’s release.

The release of “I Rise” coincides with tomorrow evening’s 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City, during which the world's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization will honor Madonna with the Advocate for Change Award.

“I wrote ‘I Rise’ as a way of giving a voice to all marginalized people who feel they don’t have the opportunity to speak their mind,” Madonna explains in an official statement. “This year is the 50th anniversary of Pride and I hope this song encourages all individuals to be who they are, to speak their minds and to love themselves.”
