NEW MUSIC WE LOVE: Lucy Rose’s “Could You Help Me”

October 26, 2023 Albumism Staff
Lucy Rose Could You Help Me

Nearly five years on from the release of her fourth studio album No Words Left (2019), Lucy Rose has returned with her poignant new single “Could You Help Me.” Embodying the singer-songwriter’s signature penchant for coupling stirring melodies with ruminative lyricism, the piano-propelled song is inspired by recent health challenges that she encountered.

“This song in particular is about my experience of going to my doctors repeatedly asking for help and not receiving it,” Rose confides in an official statement. '‘I think that can happen a lot with back pain, as there’s sometimes not a great deal that can be done about it, but my back pain was not allowing me to do regular day-to-day activities, like look after my new baby. It was bad, very bad. It was the first time I’ve really had an illness where until diagnosis, I was just trying to explain my pain with words, numbers, it was very isolating, like no-one would ever quite understand.”

“Could You Help Me” represents the harbinger of the songs to come on Rose’s forthcoming fifth studio album and “the beginning of a new chapter for me” according to the artist herself.
