Released last month, Lizzie Weber’s new single “Fidalgo” represents the thrilling next chapter of the golden-voiced singer-songwriter’s ascendant career. And today, we’re honored to present the exclusive world premiere of the song’s official video, which features striking imagery evocative of the single’s core themes of place, time and self-awareness.
Directed and produced by Weber herself with support from directors of photography Tim Gebauer and Dylan Randolph, the video was filmed in her adopted home of Anacortes, WA and surrounding areas on Fidalgo Island, WA, as well as her native stomping grounds of St. Louis, MO. “I wanted the video to feature some of my favorite spots on the island, like Cap Sante Park and the gorgeous road that is Marine Drive,” Weber explains. “We arrived at Cap Sante at sunrise to film and the most beautiful and eerie fog was layered above the sea. It was almost too good to be true.”
The lead single from Weber’s much-anticipated new album of the same name due next year, “Fidalgo” marks her first new music since releasing “How Does It Feel” and “Lay Down Your Love” nearly two years ago in late 2020.
“One of my favorite things about living on Fidalgo was the ability to take a breathtaking drive along the water and through the trees at any time,” Weber continues. “We were surrounded on all sides by epic beauty: the San Juan Islands to the west, Mount Baker and the Cascades to the east, and the tallest trees in shades of green unlike any other. I wanted these geographic elements to be woven into the performance, highlighting the surrounding beauty while using double exposure to transport the audience to that space and time.”
