After an extended, eighteen-year hiatus since their 1999 album Slap-Heavy arrived, rock pioneers L7 have resurfaced with the infectious new single “Dispatch From Mar-A-Lago.” Even the most cursory listen reveals that the L.A.-bred quartet of Donita Sparks, Suzi Gardner, Jennifer Finch, and Dee Plakas haven’t lost their edge and their intensity remains remarkably intact. Their wry sense of humor also remains strong, as the track finds Sparks conjuring images of Donald Trump’s Florida resort being trashed, singing “S.O.S. from the golden throne / Mogul’s in deep shit, he’s all alone / It’s not good, a riot in fact /The whole friggin’ country club is under attack.”

In other band news, the Sarah Price directed documentary L7: Pretend We’re Dead—which features commentary from the band, as well as Joan Jett, Shirley Manson, and Krist Novoselic, among others—has recently been screened in select cities, with a Blu-ray and video-on-demand release slated for October 13th. Watch the trailer and listen to “Dispatch From Mar-A-Lago” below.
